Born as Elisabeth Amalie Eugnie, Duchess of Bavaria, on December 24, 1837, she had a wonderful childhood in Bavaria. She met the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph in Bad Ischl, Upper Austria, in the Summer of 1853. They got engaged and married in Vienna on April 24, 1854. Sisi became the Empress of Austria. After the Compromise with Hungary 1867 she was crowned to the Queen of Hungary. On September 10, 1898, she was assassinated by the Italian anarchist Luigi Lucheni in Geneva, Switzerland.
